DiversePosted by Webmaster 2007-08-27 21:34Vlakbij het kerkje van Lermoos is er op 3 augustus 1944 een B24 bommenwerper neergeschoten door de Duitsers. Er staat nu een gedenkteken aan de voet van de Grubigstein.
August 3rd 1944 eight B24 Liberator Heavy Bombers of the 15th USAAF, based at Pantanella in southern Italy, where shot down by fighters of the German Air Force over the area of the Fernpass, one of which crashed 200m north of the Lermoos Village Church.
This B24 (Serial Nr. 42-78322) was from the 465 Bomber Group, 782 Bomber Squadron.
From these eight aircraft crewed by 79 airmen, 30 lost their lives on this day.

Deze kapel staat in het oberdorf in Lermoos.
Ook in het dorpje Ehrwald staat er een monument op het dorpsplein in het centrum.
